Week 9 roundup: Despite forcing 4 turnovers, Valley still falls to Bremen

Bremen 24, Tippecanoe Valley 10 (Friday): Tyrus Graverson caught seven passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 25 yards and kicked a 30-yard field goal for the host Lions in a win over Valley Friday.

Hunter Stage threw for a career-high 164 yards and also ran for 32 yards for Valley, who fell to 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the Indiana Northern State Conference. Wes Parker ran nine times for 38 yards and a touchdown and also caught five passes for a team-high 68 yards.

Owen Omondi had three catches for 61 yards, and Ty Kiser, Grady Moriarty and Brandon Stiles had one reception each.

Bremen won despite committing four turnovers. Omondi, Jamison Phillips and Hudson Shepherd each had an interception for Valley.

Gage Overbey kicked a 30-yard field goal and an extra point for Valley. The Vikings also had two turnovers.

Bremen led 17-0 at halftime and 17-10 in the fourth quarter before Silas Laidig threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Graverson to complete the scoring.

Carson Anderson ran for 102 yards and a score.

Winamac 16, Caston 11 (Friday): Tearson Wolford had two fourth-quarter touchdown runs as part of a 91-yard night, and he also had seven tackles and a fumble recovery on defense as the Warriors earned a Hoosier North road win over Caston Friday.

Ethan Burgess and Addison Allen also had seven tackles each. Aiden Schooler had a fumble recovery.

Jabez Yarber ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 21 attempts for Caston (2-7, 2-5 Hoosier North). Yarber had a 25-yard touchdown run, and Gavin Mollenkopf threw a two-point conversion pass to Logan Mollenkopf to complete the scoring.

Yarber led the defense with eight tackles, including one for loss. He also defended a pass. Ashton Bowyer had 20 carries for 63 yards on offense and six tackles and a pass defended on defense.

Parker Zimpleman had eight tackles, and Tucker Woolever had six tackles and a fumble recovery.

Caston led 3-0 on a 22-yard Drew McGrew field goal after three quarters.

Caston has not beaten Winamac since 2012.

North Judson 60, Pioneer 18 (Friday): Micah Rans ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 62 yards and a score, but the host Class 1A, No. 10 Panthers lost to Class 1A, No. 1 North Judson at the Pit Friday.

Rans threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Eli Guffey. Noah VanMeter had 62 yards rushing and a 5-yard reception. Carter Mize had two catches for 23 yards. 

J.J. Solano had 12 tackles to lead the defense. Shiloh Rine and VanMeter had eight tackles each, and Rans and Fletcher Smith had seven each.

Quarterback Jesiah McDaniel ran for 165 yards and four touchdowns and also completed both of his attempts for 75 yards. Kole Wilcox ran for 123 yards and four touchdowns and had two receptions for 75 yards. Brock Benson had 98 yards rushing on 10 attempts.

North Judson led 32-12 at halftime. North Judson completed an undefeated regular season and won the outright Hoosier North title.

Pioneer fell to 6-3, 5-2 Hoosier North.

South Central (Union Mills) 30, Culver 22 (Friday): Clayten Strauch ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 31-yard run in the fourth quarter to break a 22-22 tie, as the host Satellites topped Culver Friday.

Rylon Rondo added a 12-yard interception return for a touchdown for South Central, who improved to 2-7 overall. This marked their first conference win since joining the conference this year for football.

David Hite ran for 128 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and he also had four catches for 80 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown reception from Jonas McCuen in the fourth quarter. Ethan Binion ran for 101 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

Hite also led the defense with eight tackles. Theron Carrington had seven tackles, including three for loss. Binion had six tackles.

Culver fell to 1-8, 0-7.
