Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball coach Joe Luce has resigned after three seasons, according to a school press release sent Wednesday.

Valley went 54-21 in Luce’s three seasons as coach. Valley went 20-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play in 2024-25. Valley won the first ever Indiana Northern State Conference title.

The season ended with a 45-43 loss in overtime to Columbia City in the Class 3A, Sectional 20 final March 8.

Valley’s 20 wins were their most in a season since the 2012-13 team went 20-4.

Luce has 392 career wins in 23 seasons as a high school coach, which also included stops at Fountain Central, Benton Central, Marion, Richmond and Jeffersonville.

Luce has won six sectionals, three regionals and a semistate title as a coach. He has also had eight 20-win seasons.

At Valley, his teams went 3-3 in postseason games. Valley remains without a sectional title since 2019.

“It has been an honor to coach at Tippecanoe Valley High school and work with such dedicated student-athletes,” Luce said in the press release. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the support of the school, the players, their families, and the entire community.”

Valley athletic director Sam Sturtevant complimented Luce in the press release.

“We deeply appreciate coach Joe Luce for his incredible knowledge of the game, unwavering passion, and the relentless intensity he instilled in our players, pushing them to perform at their very best,” Sturtevant said. “We thank him for his commitment to excellence and for raising the expectations of our program, leaving a standard of dedication and hard work that will not be forgotten.”

Valley graduates starters Ian Cooksey, DeOndre Hamilton and Blain Sheetz.
