Hunter has 3 RBIs, Strasser adds 2 RBIs in Lady Zs’ season-opening win

Rochester 7, Mishawaka 6 (Thursday): Brailyn Hunter doubled and walked and drove in three runs, and Darah Strasser doubled and tripled and drove in two runs for the Rochester softball team in a season-opening win over host Mishawaka Saturday.

Bria Rensberger pitched a seven-hitter with four walks and 11 strikeouts in the circle. She also had a walk and an RBI at the plate.

Mylee Heinzmann added a hit and an RBI, and Aubrey Miller and Jadyn Field each had a double. Mia Howdeshell had a single.

Rochester won despite committing four errors. Four of Mishawaka’s runs were unearned.

Rochester scored two runs in the top of the first and never trailed. They led 7-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, but the Lady Cavemen scored twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh.

Rensberger struck out Mika Mercado with two on base to end the game.

Rochester hosts LaVille at 11 a.m. today.
