Popejoy scores 27 as Winamac routs Frankfort in Indiana Kitchen Classic

Kroft adds 18, and Iverson has 12

Winamac 66, Frankfort 13 (Monday): Sadie Popejoy hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points, and Kandace Kroft added three treys and scored 18 as the visiting Lady Warriors routed Frankfort in an Indiana Kitchen Classic quarterfinal at Everett Case Arena Monday.

Marissa Iverson added 12 – six in each half – for the Lady Warriors, who have won three of four and who improved to 9-5.

Winamac was coming off a 58-26 loss to Rensselaer on Dec. 21, but they jumped out to a 24-4 lead after one quarter this time, and they stretched the lead to 46-8 at halftime.

Mershai Loehmer added seven points in the first half.

The 66 points were the most points in a game for Winamac since a 68-34 win over Frankfort in a Kitchen Classic consolation round game on Dec. 20, 2022.

Winamac will play Rossville in the semifinals at 5 p.m. today at Delphi. The Lady Hornets handled North Newton 54-22 in their quarterfinal.
