Panthers place 8th while Rensselaer wins 8th straight sectional

Boys wrestling
The Pioneer boys wrestling team scored 101 points and finished eighth out of nine teams at the Twin Lakes sectional Saturday.
Three Panthers advanced to the regional by finishing in the top three in their weight class.
They include Eli Guffey, who was second at 157; Noah VanMeter, who was second at 165; and John Abadines, who took third at 106.
Guffey, a junior, made the regional for the third straight year after making it at 138 in 2023 and at 144 last year. VanMeter, a junior, made the regional for the first time. Abadines is a freshman.
Pioneer forfeited 113, 120 and 126.
Rensselaer won their eighth consecutive sectional title with 260.5 points. Benton Central finished in second with 175.5.
Logansport will host the regional at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
