Pioneer boys basketball falls to Triton, North Miami

Boys basketball

North Miami 47, Pioneer 40 (Saturday): Ezra Lewellen scored 14 points, but the Pioneer boys basketball team fell to North MIami Saturday.

Drew McKaig added seven points, and Addai Lewellen and Hunter Klepinger had six each.

The game was tied 18-18 at halftime.

North Miami made more free throws (13) than Pioneer attempted (12).

Triton 73, Pioneer 34 (Friday): Ezra Lewellen scored 14 points to lead Pioneer in a home Hoosier North loss to Triton Friday. Addai Lewellen added eight points, and Hunter Klepinger had seven.

Triton led 28-22 at halftime and outscored the Panthers 45-12 in the second half.

The game was the Hoosier North opener for both schools.

North White 42, Pioneer 36 (Dec. 10): Madison Blickenstaff scored 12 points, and Olivia Brooke added 11 for the Pioneer girls basketball team in a home loss to sectional rival and seventh-ranked North White Dec. 10.

North White outscored Pioneer 19-6 in the fourth quarter to rally from a 30-23 deficit.

The Lady Vikings outscored Pioneer 15-6 from the foul line.

Teresa Maggio had 31, and Daylynn Thornton had 19 for the Lady Mavericks, who led 38-23 at halftime.

LaPorte at Pioneer, canceled: The LaPorte-Pioneer girls basketball game scheduled for Saturday was canceled after LaPorte announced that the team would be placed in quarantine.

Wrestling

Culver Academy at Pioneer, canceled: The Culver Academy-Pioneer wrestling dual scheduled for Tuesday was canceled. Pioneer traveled to Frontier for a dual instead.

Pioneer will also have a home dual against LaVille Thursday.

Swimming

Lewis Cass at Pioneer, canceled: The Lewis Cass-Pioneer swimming meet scheduled for Tuesday was canceled.

The Panthers will begin their season with a three-way home dual against Lafayette Central Catholic and Carroll (Flora) Thursday.
