Tippecanoe Valley freshman Savana Miller shot an 81 at the East Noble regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville, ending her season.

The top three teams and top three individuals on non-advancing teams advanced to state.

Northridge won the regional with a 330, and DeKalb (331) and Homestead (337) also advanced. Carroll (Fort Wayne) also shot a 337, but Homestead earned the third state spot based on the fifth player’s tiebreaker.

Carroll (Fort Wayne)’s Taylor Larkins (72), NorthWood’s Sophie Richmond (72) and Warsaw’s Abbey Peterson (77) earned the individual state spots.

Miller’s round included a birdie on the par-5 13th hole. She also had nine pars, seven bogeys and two double-bogeys on the par 71 course.

Miller finished 10th among all players in a field of 90.

Larkins beat Richmond and Homestead’s Breanna Knoll in a sudden death playoff for medalist honors.

“The 2024 golf season came to an end today at regionals, but Savana fought hard,” Valley coach Leslie Brouyette said in a statement. “While dealing with windy conditions all day, she shot a 44 on the front nine but then buckled down and shot an impressive 1-over par 37 on the back nine for an 81.”

Brouyette, a second-year coach, later said that the “future is very bright” for the Lady Vikings.

“Can’t wait for next year,” she added.
