Culver 42, Triton 38 (Friday): Ava McCune scored a game-high 14 points, and Ashlynn Berndt hit three 3-pointers and added 10 for the visiting Lady Cavaliers in a Hoosier North road win over Triton Friday.
Amiyah Williams added seven points and a team-high six rebounds. Brynn Berndt’s four points came in the fourth quarter.
Sydney King hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points to lead Triton. Sierra Hawley added 10.
Triton committed 22 turnovers.
Culver led 30-21 after three quarters, but Triton started the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run to tie the game.
But Brynn Berndt used a screen to score on a back door layup to start an 8-0 run. Williams scored on a putback, Berndt took a sideline inbounds pass and drove in for two, and McCune added two free throws to make it 40-32 with 1:53 left.
Culver improved to 11-7 and finished Hoosier North play 6-2. Triton fell to 2-17, 0-7.
The teams will meet again in the Bi-County Tournament at Triton at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Culver had lost 11 of their previous 12 meetings with Triton. Culver won at the Trojan Trench for the first time since winning a Bi-County Tournament game there in January 2012, and they won a conference game there for the first time since January 2011.
Triton coach Ashli Faulkner was the Culver coach from 2007-10.
