McCune reaches 25-goal mark, leads Culver past Rochester

Culver 9, Rochester 0 (Tuesday): Freshman Ava McCune netted a hat trick to give her 25 goals on the season, and Bre Hamilton and Maddy Hamilton added two goals each for the Culver girls soccer team in a rout of visiting Rochester Tuesday.

Alexis Gasanovas had a goal and an assist, and Maleah Johnson also scored for Culver, who improved to 7-1.

Bre Hamilton, Maddy Hamilton and Abby Zehner added one assist each.

Culver led 5-0 at halftime. The second half was played with a running clock, and Johnson’s goal in the 62nd minute ended the game per the IHSAA Mercy Rule.

Culver bounced back after suffering a 2-1 loss to Argos Saturday.

This game was originally scheduled for Thursday but postponed due to Rochester’s lack of numbers.
