Triton 40, Argos 36 (Tuesday): Alydiah Leed and Ellie Bollenbacher scored 14 points, and Morgyn Barcus added seven points and seven rebounds off the bench, but Triton staved off a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Argos in a Class 1A, Sectional 51 quarterfinal at Oregon-Davis Tuesday.
Leed hit a pair of 3-pointers and also had four rebounds. Bollenbacher also had four rebounds. Leed, Bollenbacher and Barcus fouled out.
Triton, who came into the sectional on a six-game losing streak, avenged a pair of regular season losses to Argos and improved to 3-20. Sierra Hawley had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Sydney King and Avery Viers had nine points each.
Triton led 23-11 at halftime and extended the lead to 30-16 after three quarters.
Triton outscored Argos 17-10 from the foul line. Triton won despite committing 23 turnovers.
Argos finished 7-16.
Triton will play Elkhart Christian in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Friday. Elkhart Christian drubbed Trinity Greenlawn 54-14 in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal.
