Girls basketball
Kandace Kroft scored 18 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lead the host Winamac girls basketball team past sectional rival Knox 47-35 Tuesday.
The game was tied 16-16 at halftime, but Kroft and Marissa Iverson scored eight points each in the third quarter as Winamac built a 34-29 lead.
Kroft hit her fourth 3-pointer and scored 10 of Winamac’s 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Sadie Popejoy added nine points for the Lady Warriors, who improved to 11-6.
Winamac’s next five games are conference games, starting with Friday’s home tilt with North Miami.
Riley Taylor had nine points for the Lady Redskins, who fell to 4-13.
Winamac beat Knox for the first time in eight years.
