Boys wrestling
Layne Horn (132), Brant Beck (157) and Declan Gard (HWT) all won weight class titles at the Mooresville Holiday Tournament Dec. 27-28.
Horn and Beck each went 4-0 and improved to 23-0 on the season. Gard went 5-0 and is 21-2 on the season.
Horn, Beck and Gard were the only Rochester wrestlers to place.
Rochester scored 110 points and finished 13th in the 32-team field despite forfeiting 106, 113, 120, 150 and 175. Perry Meridian won with 191 points.
Horn accounted for 31.5 points, Beck accounted for 31, and Gard accounted for 30. Other scoring Zebra wrestlers included Konor Fugate, who scored three points at 126; Matthias Field, who scored three points at 144; Derek Wortley, who scored 7.5 points at 190; and Mason Hisey, who scored four points at 215.
Horn is ranked No. 5 in the state at 132, Beck is No. 2 at 157, and Gard is No. 12 at heavyweight, per the IndianaMat.com rankings of Jan. 3.
