Harrison Dunwoody ran the 60 hurdles in 8.68 seconds to finish in second place in a field of 33 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Qualifier No. 3 at Troyer Fieldhouse March 15.

A junior, Dunwoody is No. 7 on the Class 1A-3A performance list for this event. The top eight will compete in the indoor state final at the Hoosier State Relays.

Other Rochester boys highlights included Trevor Walley clearing 12-0 in the pole vault. The mark is a six-inch improvement from the 2024 sectional and a new personal best. Walley is currently No. 9 on the performance list with the top 12 advancing to HSR.

Maddox Jewell jumped 17-10 ½ in the long jump, an eight-inch improvement from an indoor meet in West Lafayette the previous week.

Jewell ran a 7.77, Spencer Backus ran a 7.80, and Jabez Yarber ran a 7.82 in a heat in the 60 meters.

Jewell, Yarber, Dunwoody and Clarence Garrett teamed up to run a 1:41.82 in the 4 x 200 relay.

The boys 4 x 800 relay ran a 9:17.46. The team consisted of Lincoln Holder, Grant Bailey, Leandro Javier and Camdyn Furnivall.

Coach Ryan Helt noted that Furnivall’s split of 2:24.3 was faster than his personal best in an open 800 of 2:30.63.

“The massive improvements by Furnivall and Javier, along with the continued strong contributions of Holder and Bailey have RHS in a good position for the season, especially when the group is complemented by the return of Reece Johnson,” Helt said in a statement.

Bailey, Backus, Holder and Javier then ran a 12:03.71 in the distance medley relay.

Also, Camden Susaraba threw the shot put 37-4 ½ in his debut in the event while Landon Weaver had a throw of 33-10 ½.

In the girls meet, sophomore Kyra Doran ran the 60 hurdles in a personal best of 10.22 seconds and finished fifth in a field of 32. She was also seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14-11 ¾.

Allyson Calloway ran a 12:42.97 in the 3,200 meters and is currently 28th on the performance list.

Other highlights included Audrey Wagner, who ran the 60 hurdles in 10.67 seconds in her debut in the event and placed eighth in the field of 32; and Ashlynn Weyant, who set an indoor personal best with a throw of 30-10 ¼ in the shot put. Teammate Nevaeh Goodman had a throw of 19-8 ¾ in her indoor debut.
