Rochester blanks North Miami, will play Lady Dragons next

Emma Dunlap, Madi VanDerWeele and Lilly Hines scored two goals each to lead the No. 6 Argos girls soccer team to a 6-1 win over Culver in a Class 1A, Sectional 35 quarterfinal at Newton Park in Lakeville Tuesday.
In Tuesday’s second quarterfinal, Mercedes Brown notched a hat trick, and Macie Nelson scored twice to lead Rochester to a 7-0 win over North Miami.
Argos (11-4) will play Rochester (10-2) in a semifinal at 5 p.m. today. LaVille and Bremen, who received byes, will meet in the second semifinal at 7 p.m.
The winners return for the sectional final at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Argos is the two-time defending sectional champion.
Baleigh Binkley scored in the eighth minute to give Culver a 1-0 lead. Dunlap scored the equalizer in the 17th minute, and a VanDerWeele free kick in the 20th minute put Argos ahead for good.
Dunlap’s rebound goal in the 35th minute, and Hines’ goal off an Aryanna Allen assist in the 38th minute made it 4-1.
VanDerWeele and Hines would score within the first 10 minutes of the second half to extend the lead to 6-1.
Argos had a 27-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Meanwhile, the Lady Zs knocked North Miami out of the sectional for the second straight year. Abbi Richard had a goal and two assists, and Amy Williams also had a goal and an assist. Brown, Dallas Holloway and Kendyll Bradley had one assist each.
North Miami did not have a shot on goal. RHS is 5-0 against North Miami the last two years.
North Miami finishes 1-11-1. They did not score in six of their 13 games.
Argos beat Rochester 2-0 on Sept. 14 in their regular season meeting. LaVille beat Bremen 4-0 on Aug. 20.
