Pugh, Overmyer, Pioneer’s Nies, Shaffer, Winamac’s Rausch also make all-conference

Senior Brynn Berndt of first-time regional champion Culver was named Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media.
Berndt’s senior teammates Ashley Pugh and Livi Overmyer joined her on the first team.
Berndt had 462 kills on the season and finished her career with 1,021. She also had 308 points, 57 aces, 277 digs, 17 assists and 214 serves received.
Berndt led the team in kills and was second in blocks and digs behind Overmyer and second in assists behind Pugh.
Culver went 28-6 overall and 5-3 in the Hoosier North.
Other area players making the first team included Pioneer’s Keirsten Nies and Madyson Shaffer and Winamac’s Brooke Rausch.
Nies had 213 kills, 255 points, 286 digs, 248 assists and 374 serves received. Shaffer, a freshman libero, led Pioneer in aces (56), points (313) and digs (409) while also contributing 340 serves received.
Rausch had 134 kills, 36 aces, 15 blocks, 151 digs and 260 serves received.
Area players earning honorable mention status included Pioneer’s Laylah Demond and Aspen Moolenaar, Winamac’s Maggie Keller, Caston’s Madi Douglass and Argos’ Kinzlee Kelly.
Pioneer and Triton shared the conference title with 7-1 records.
