Cooksey scores 11, leads Valley over Culver Academy

Tippecanoe Valley 32, Culver Academy 27 (Saturday): Ian Cooksey hit two 3-pointers and scored a game-high 11 points for Valley as they topped visiting Culver Academy at Rita Price Simpson Court Saturday.

Blain Sheetz added six points, and Davis Cowan, DeOndre Hamilton and Stephen Akase added five each.

Valley won their third straight and improved to 9-4. Culver Academy dropped to 6-3.

All six of Culver Academy’s field goals in the first three quarters were 3-pointers.

Culver Academy’s 27 points were a season low. They scored a season high 74 points in a win over Jimtown Friday.

Valley went 14 for 24 from the foul line while Culver Academy was 2 for 2.

Valley led 12-9 at halftime and extended the lead to 22-15 after three quarters.

This was the first meeting between the teams since Culver Academy beat Valley 63-41 on Dec. 6, 2016.

Valley travels to Indianapolis Herron at 12:30 p.m. this Saturday.
