Elkhart Christian 54, Argos 50 (OT, Friday): Argos’ Luke Stults scored his 1,000th career point on senior night at Phil Weybright Gymnasium, but the Dragons lost in overtime for the third consecutive game Friday.
Stults came in needing 10 points for 1,000 and finished with a game-high 22. Zhayne Hellums added 15.
Argos trailed 31-26 after three quarters, but Stults scored nine in the fourth, and Hellums and Mekhi Austin combined to hit three 3-pointers.
The game was tied at 47 after regulation. Hellums hit another 3 in the overtime, but sectional rival Elkhart Christian hit five of eight free throws in the overtime to salt the game away.
Argos also lost to North Judson 48-43 in overtime on Feb. 21 and to Jimtown 48-44 in overtime the following night.
Only once in the last 25 years has Argos played three overtime games in a season, much less three overtime games in a row.
Argos will begin Class 1A, Sectional 51 play against Trinity Greenlawn at North Judson at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Wednesday.
