Argos boys basketball roundup: Dragons put 4 in double figures in loss to NM

Loss to Plymouth follows Kindig’s first win over Bethany

Boys basketball

North Miami 67, Argos 63 (Wednesday): Luke Stults and Mack Calhoun had 15 points each to lead four players in double figures, but North Miami held off the host Dragons to earn the win at Phil Weybright Gymnasium Wednesday.

Zhayne Hellums added 12, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and Mekhi Austin had 10.

Calhoun’s 15 were a career high.

Jake Riley scored 43 for North Miami, including 17 in the third quarter. He also had nine of the Warriors’ 14 points in the fourth quarter.

North Miami led 30-22 at halftime and extended the lead to 53-38 after three quarters before Argos rallied in the fourth.

Argos dropped to 1-9.

Luke Stults scored 13 points, and Kenyan Beldon hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter for six for the visiting Dragons in a road loss to Plymouth Saturday.

Plymouth put four players in double figures, led by Trenton Van Duyne’s 17.

Plymouth led 19-7 after one quarter and stretched the lead to 29-11 at halftime.

Luke Stults scored 11 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter as the host Dragons hung on to beat Bethany Christian Friday for coach Nick Kindig’s first career win.

Zhayne Hellums added six points for the Dragons.

Stults had 15 of Argos’ 17 free throw attempts.

Bethany Christian led 21-20 at halftime, but Argos rallied to take a 34-30 lead after three quarters before hanging on.

Jacoby Reinhardt led Bethany Christian with 16, and Trey Caffee had 12.
