Hayden Lute has to travel for every practice and every meet, but that did not stop the Culver junior from being our RTC4 Girls Swimmer of the Year.

Lute, who is just one of the girls on Culver’s team, is an avid distance freestyler going back to her days on the Rochester Royals club team.

Since Culver does not have a pool, she travels to the Bardwell Aquatic Center in Plymouth for practice.

For this list, we would like to thank area coaches for sending us their scores and results and for talking to us after meets.

Special thanks goes to Rochester coach Stephanie Brown, given that the team traveled to Pioneer for all its practices and traveled on the road for all its meets due to their home pool at the middle school being under construction.

The dedication of her and her swimmers was one of the most memorable things about the season.

This list is ours and ours alone, and we take full responsibility for it.

First team

  • Hayden Lute (Culver) (Swimmer of the Year) – This year, she finished fourth at the Warsaw sectional in the 200 freestyle in 2:09.53 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:53.22.

  • Bailey Anderson (Tippecanoe Valley) – Anderson was sixth in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 freestyle at the sectional. She also won the 100 freestyle at the Indiana Northern State Conference meet.

  • Aspen Moolenaar (Pioneer) – Moolenaar, a junior, did a unique double by finishing eighth in the 50 freestyle at the Warsaw sectional and seventh in diving.

  • Cailyn Colford (Pioneer) – Colford, a junior, took 12th in the 200 individual medley and eighth in the 100 backstroke at the Warsaw sectional. She has dropped four seconds off her individual medley time in the last year.

Honorable mention

  • Cassie Rich (Tippecanoe Valley)

  • Aubrey Miller (Rochester)

  • Kamryn Newby (Pioneer)

  • Audrey Widman (Rochester)
