Winamac 44, Caston 24 (Saturday): Kandace Kroft hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points, and Sadie Popejoy scored 10 of her 12 in the first half as the visiting Lady Warriors beat Caston in the Hoosier North opener for both teams Saturday.
Kaelyn O’Connor added six for Winamac (3-1, 1-0 Hoosier North), all on free throws.
Madi Douglass had nine, and Gigi Berry had seven for Caston, who dropped to 1-4, 0-1. Eighteen of Caston’s points came from freshmen and sophomores.
Winamac led 26-10 at halftime.
Winamac beat Caston for the first time since 2019.
