Baseball drops first game of series to North Judson

Softball

Logansport 4, Winamac 2 (Thursday): Alexis Sheets had a double and an RBI, and Ella Gearhart had a single and an RBI, but host Logansport rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Winamac Thursday.

McKenzie Hinz and Aubrey Gearhart also had doubles. Maggie Smith had a single.

Ella Gearhart took the loss in relief, allowing three unearned runs in one inning. She allowed two hits and walked three.

Aubrey Gearhart pitched the first five innings and allowed seven hits and a run. She walked one and struck out two.

Class 2A, No. 12 Winamac led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth.

The loss snaps Winamac’s four-game winning streak.

North Judson 5, Winamac 2 (Thursday): Hayden Clark doubled, stole two bases and drove in a run, and Tyler Perry and Russell Compton also had doubles for Winamac in a road loss to conference and sectional rival North Judson Thursday.

Wyatt Wheeler and Caleb Good also had singles.

Caleb Seymour allowed five runs over six innings and took the loss. He allowed five hits and no walks while striking out six.

Winamac committed four errors behind him, which led to three unearned runs for North Judson.

North Judson scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.

The teams will meet again at Winamac at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Thursday.

Caston 203, Winamac 243 (Thursday): A.J. Dague fired a 46 to lead the host Comets past Winamac at Pond View Golf Course in Star City Thursday.

Marshall Finke added a 50, Dominic Herseman had a 52, Dean Sylvain had a 55, Brayden Duff had a 58, and Colby Pugh had a 59.
