Rochester junior Allyson Callway ran a 20:27 and finished in 49th place out of 241 runners, but her season ended at the New Haven regional at Huntington University Saturday.
Calloway’s time was one second off her personal best, a 20:26 at the Manchester sectional on Oct. 19.
She was competing in the regional for the third time.
Among other area girls competing in the race, Argos junior Lexi Gibson was 142nd in 22:11, and Tippecanoe Valley senior Bailey Bussard was 163rd in 22:42.
The cutoff for individuals to make the state finals in the girls regional was 19:34.
Fort Wayne Concordia won the regional with 39 points, and Homestead (70), Columbia City (123), Warsaw (190), and Carroll (Fort Wayne) (200) also advanced to state.
Fort Wayne Concordia’s Mallory Weller won the individual title in 17:36. Her younger sister Daphne was second in 17:58. Two other Three Rivers Conference runners – Manchester’s Ayla Cashdollar (18:58) and Kadence Fox (19:34) advanced to state as they were among the top 15 individuals on non-advancing teams.
In the boys race, the top area runner was Valley junior Chrostopher Marquez, who ran an 18:32 and finished 157th in a field of 243 runners. The other Valley runner was senior Isaac Whetstone, who finished in a season-best 18:57 and took 182nd place.
Rochester’s Leandro Javier, a sophomore participating in his first regional, ran a 19:24 and finished 209th.
The cutoff for individuals to make the state finals was 16:35.
Homestead won the regional title with 65 points. Warsaw (112), Wabash (144), Fort Wayne Concordia (149) and Carroll (Fort Wayne) (158) also finished in the top five and advanced to state.
Warsaw junior Jackson Gackenheimer added an individual regional title to the sectional title he won at Manchester. His time Saturday was 15:39, and he won by three seconds over New Haven’s Bryan Garcia.
In addition to the Wabash boys team, Manchester’s Kyler Dale will also represent the TRC at state from this regional.
