Westville 10, Culver 4 (Saturday): Reese Herrell singled, walked twice and drove in two runs, and Jonas McCuen and Caleb McCuen each had an RBI, but the Cavaliers lost to Westville in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 semifinal at Tri-Township Saturday.
Jonas McCuen and Adria Guasp each had singles.
The teams combined for 20 walks and four hit batters.
Nine different Culver batters walked at least once. Herrell, Caleb McCuen and Adam Peterson walked multiple times.
Hayden Parker started on the mound and allowed five hits and five runs (three earned) while walking two and striking out four over 3 ⅓ innings. Jonas McCuen pitched 2 ⅔ innings in relief and allowed three hits and five runs (four earned) while walking five and striking out five.
Culver committed three errors which led to three unearned runs for Westville.
Westville led 6-0 after four innings before Culver scored once in the fifth and three more times in the sixth to cut the lead to two.
The Blackhawks came back with four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.
In the other semifinal on Saturday, Tri-Township blanked Triton 4-0.
Tri-Township then went on to beat Westville 4-3 in the sectional final Monday.
