Zimpleman named Hoosier North MVP

5 other Caston players join her on first team; 4 Pioneer, 3 Winamac, 2 Culver players also make first team

Softball

Caston senior pitcher-infielder Addison Zimpleman has been voted Hoosier North MVP, and five of her teammates joined her on the all-conference team, which was voted on by the conference’s coaches and released to the media Wednesday.

Lady Comet players Isabel Scales, Annie Harsh, Macee Hinderlider, Alexa Finke and Kylee Logan also made the first team. Freshman Natalie Wagner earned honorable mention status.

Pioneer’s Lois Layer, Emma Sells, Kylie Attinger and Ava Beasy also made the first team, and Adeline Cripe made honorable mention.

Winamac players honored included first-teamers Maggie Smith, Issy Decker and Corrin Combs and honorable mention picks Brooke Rausch and Linzy Walters.

Also, Culver’s Aiden Molebash and Gracie Milam made the first team.

Of the 32 players recognized, Layer, Molebash and Warner were the only three freshmen.

Caston won the conference title for the third straight year with a 7-0 record. They have not lost a conference game since May 2021.

Zimpleman ht .581 with eight homers and 24 RBIs. She also drew 14 walks and had a 1.791 OPS. As a pitcher, she went 15-3 with a 1.58 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 101 ⅔ innings.
